How To Steps:

Log into your WordPress site https://{Your Site Name}/wp-admin
On the left side click on Plugins > Add New > Search for “Updraft”
Click Install Now
Click Activate
Plugins > Installed Plugins > Updraft > Settings > Now Click on the “Settings” tab
Click Backup Now to create your first MANUAL backup.
Choose how often you wish to automatically backup your website and database I recommend at least weekly and a minimum of 4 backups. (if you are going to do more than weekly you are gong to want to increase the number of backups if your storage allows based on your website and database size)
Choose your remote storage location (I recommend Google Drive but you can use others).
Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.
A new window will open and follow prompts and Allow Access to your storage account.
Come back in here regularly to verify your backups are being created.

Backup / Restore Tab

Come into the Backup/Restore tab to restore backups if ever needed.

Pro Tip

Prior to updating your site/plugins ALWAYS backup your Website/Database using the Manual “Backup NOW” button.
AFTER you finish some major work such as large posts consider manually backing up your Website/Database using the “Backup Now” button, it would be a shame to lose all that work if your automatic backup happens once a week and something happens prior to that.

Troubleshooting

If you ever lose access to your remote storage location then you can simply go to the Backup / Restore tab and click on the link that says “Rescan remote storage”.

Conclusion

We have been very happy with the Updraft backup plugin solution. Updraft does offer a premium version but currently, we have not needed it, once the site grows enough we may consider it so we can create backups in multiple remote locations.

It offers others features in Premium that we do not currently use.
